Nuclear Physics Methods Laboratory

Predating the laboratory by four years, the core of the team known as the NPM group formed in 2015 at the former MIPT Department of General Physics, drawing on the expertise of several laboratories of the Institute for Nuclear Research of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and with the support of the MIPT Laboratory of High Energy Physics.

The scientific focus of the team is on developing methods for conducting and analyzing the data obtained in particle physics and nuclear physics experiments. The lab also strives to introduce modern information technology into experimental physics and education.

How the lab approaches scientific problems:

  • Based at MIPT, the laboratory benefits from large numbers of motivated students to engage in research.

  • Even undergraduates get to participate in world-class experiments.

  • Combining research and education, NPM ensures a continuous scientific experience.

  • In its work on physical experiments, the laboratory draws on the most advanced methods available today.
