Laboratory of Nanooptics and Plasmonics

The laboratory is an associate member of the Nanophotonics for Energy Efficiency Network of Excellence (N4E).

Laboratory of Nanophotonics and plasmonics (previously - Laboratory of Nanooptics and Femtosecond Eelectronics) was founded at MIPT in 2008 on the initiative of Prof. AD Gladun and Prof. VG Leiman. During this period, laboratory members have conducted research on nanoeletromehanics, terahertz electronics, nanooptics and plasmonics. Research laboratory is supported by the programs "5top100" MIPT, the Russian Science Foundation and by grants from the Russian Foundation for Basic Research. Currently, the problem addressed by the laboratory can be divided into three related classes. Firstly, it is the study of the generation, propagation and detection of photons and surface plasmon polaritons in nanoscale solid-state structures and waveguide resonators focused on the development of energy-efficient ultra-compact electro-optical and whole-optical components for information processing devices. Secondly, it is the development of graphene nanobiosensors based on the phenomenon of surface plasmon resonance (SPR). And finally, it is the development of highly efficient numerical methods for the calculation of resonant processes of radiation, propagation and scattering of electromagnetic waves in the optical range of complex composite structures, including in these devices based on the phenomenon of SPR.
