Researchers at the Laboratory for Modelling of Nonlinear Processes are focusing on computational fluid dynamics and parallel computing, hypersonic aerodynamics and heat transfer, simulation of laminar-turbulent transition, numerical methods for hyperbolic conservation laws in general, and hybrid methods for numerical simulation of turbulent flows based on domain decomposition. 

In-house software:

  • Several fully parallel codes for modelling compressible gas flows taking into account real non-equilibrium physics, turbulence and transition;

  • Codes are applicable to real-life geometries, such as full spacecraft with superstructures, and flow regimes at various altitudes

Resources:

  • Two HPC clusters based on Intel 8-,12- and 26 core processors (in total more than 1300 cores)

  • Academic versions of Intel Parallel Studio, ANSYS, Tecplot, Pointwise


History: the laboratory was created at MIPT in 2011 as part of the work in the framework of the Russian government grant “Measures to Attract Leading Scientists to Russian Educational Institutions” (contract No. 11.G34.31.0072).
