Fluid Dynamics and Seismics Lab

The laboratory was founded in 2014 as part of the 5top100 Program of the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology aimed at boosting the recognition of the leading Russian universities among the key global centers of science and education.

Our research staff specializes in contemporary calculation problems related to the fields of oil exploration and hydrocarbon deposit development. Calculation involving massively parallel computing architectures including GPGPU clusters. The laboratory currently pursues research in the following two fields: vibration and thermal gas treatment of oil-bearing strata. Seismicity. Problems involving the computation of propagation of acoustic waves in solid materials under external mechanical impact. Filtration. The modeling of hydrodynamic processes within a layer: numerical integration of porous medium hydrodynamics equation accounting for heat conductance, phase conversions, and chemical reactions.
