There are over 100 researchers who choose conduct their scientific researches at MIPT. Many of them are university’s alumni. Several years ago university also encouraged some prominent Russian researches who had previously left the country to return. Head of Laboratory. Longtime staff member of the Institute of Theoretical and Experimental Biophysics of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Moscow Oblast, Pushchino). Worked abroad since 2000 in a number of leading scientific research institutions in the USA and Japan (Florida State University, USA; University of North Texas Health Science Center, USA; Emory University School of Medicine, Atlanta, USA; George Washington University, USA; Kyoto University, Japan). Head of Laboratory at the Institute for Integrated Cell-Material Sciences (Kyoto University, Japan) since 2008.
Academic Interests
K. Agladze's main scientific works deal with the biophysics of excitable media, as well as the theoretical and the experimental substantiation of low-voltage defibrillation. K. Agladze's works were the first to employ Belousov–Zhabotinsky reaction as a "chemical computer" and demonstrate the wave environment to be fitting for the purposes of image processing and optimization purposes. K. Agladze also heads the MIPT Nano-construction of Membrane Protein Complexes for Cellular Physiology Control Laboratory, which mainly specializes in cardiac tissue engineering research. One of the winners of the Russian Government's first Megagrant Tender in 2010. Author of more than 80 publications in peer-reviewed journals, including Nature and Science.

Academic Interests
Major scientific interests are in the field of nano-sized objects and their interaction with biological entities such as cells and living organisms, in particular, synthesis of inorganic particles, coating them with biopolymers, proteins and DNA; self-assembly of multifunctional superstructures via biomolecular interfaces; development of nanoparticle based smart materials; logic-gated and biocomputing structures; biomedical applications of biocompatible nanomaterials such as targeted drug delivery, cell sorting and labeling, hyperthermia of tumors; new label-free optical bio- and chemical sensors for advanced immunoassays; low-noise methods for detection of magnetic nanoparticles in vivo for investigation of nanoparticle behavior in experimental animals, i.e., their toxicity, biotransformation and biodegradation.

Fortov’s scientific research was dedicated to extreme states of matter and physics of shock waves in dense plasma. He pioneered the study of dynamic physics of collisional plasma, laid groundwork for the research of high density energy physics at Angara-5-1 experimental complex, and participated in the international Space project VEGA. Fortov conducted a series of experiments on quasicrystal lattices in plasma, including the space Plasma Crystal Experiment, that started at MIR in 1998 and later continued at the International Space Station.

While earning his masters, Beloussov co-founded his first business, Unium (Phystech College), which provided science students with course materials. In 1992, he began working at a Russian computer company called Sunrise. Beloussov expanded the company's operations to 10 subsidiaries, becoming one of the largest PC retailers in Russia by the time he left in 1994. After leaving Sunrise, Beloussov founded and co-owned two companies, Rolsen Electronics, which has become one the largest consumer electronics manufacturers in Russia, and Solomon Software SEA, a distributor and developer arm of mid-market ERP vendor Solomon Software in South-East Asia. Solomon Software was later acquired by Microsoft and is now known as Microsoft Dynamics SL.

In 2000, Beloussov founded SWsoft, a privately held server automation and virtualization software company and the then-parent company of Parallels, Inc. and Acronis Inc.

Acronis

In 2001, Beloussov founded Acronis as a storage management business unit of SWsoft. In 2003, Acronis was re-organized as a separate entity focused on backup and data protection software. Acronis employs over 700 worldwide and its products are sold in 15 languages around the world.

Beloussov has served on the Board of Directors since 2002. From 2007 to 2011, he turned his focus on Parallels, acting as CEO of the company. During this time he also founded a pair of venture capital funds, Runa Captical and QWave Capital. He returned as CEO of Acronis in May 2013, replacing former CEO Alex Pinchev.

Parallels, Inc

Parallels, Inc. was initially a server automation and virtualization software unit of SWsoft before it was spun off into as a separate entity and maintained its own distinct branding. In December 2007, SWsoft announced its plans to change its name to Parallels and ship both companies' products under the Parallels name. The merger was formalized in January 2008. From 2007 to 2013, Beloussov led the company as CEO, while remaining on the board of directors at Acronis.

Beloussov stepped down as CEO and serves as the executive chairman of the board and chief architect of Parallels, Inc. The company has more than 900 employees across offices in North AmericaEuropeAustralia and Asia and as of 2012 it had 5,000 customers and partners worldwide. Odin Automation, a service automation platform company owned by Parallels and founded by Beloussov, was sold to Ingram Micro in December 2015.

Runa Capital

In August 2010, Beloussov co-founded Runa Capital with Dmitry Chikhachev and Ilya Zubarev. The $135 million technology venture capital firm that was created "to seek growth opportunities in the rapidly growing areas of the tech sector, with specific focus on cloud computing and other hosted services, virtualization and mobile applications." Beloussov and Zubarev are senior partners at the investment firm. Since 2010, Runa Capital has invested in over 30 companies with a combined $10 billion in assets. Runa Capital's largest investment was a $10 million Series C funding round of Acumatica on November 18, 2013.

Novoselov has published more than 200 peer-reviewed research papers on several topics including mesoscopic superconductivity (Hall magnetometry), subatomic movements of magnetic domain walls, the discovery of gecko tape and graphene.

Kostya Novoselov participated in the Graphene Flagship project – a €1 billion initiative of the European Commission – and was featured in the official promotion movie of the project.

Novoselov is one of Directors of the National Graphene Institute.

Novoselov is also a recipient of a starting grant from the European Research Council.

Polyakov is known for a number of basic contributions to quantum field theory, including work on what is now called the 't Hooft–Polyakov monopole in non-Abelian gauge theory, independent from Gerard 't Hooft. Polyakov and coauthors discovered the so-called BPST instanton which, in turn, led to the discovery of the vacuum angle in QCD. His path integral formulation of string theory had profound and lasting impacts on the conceptual and mathematical understanding of the theory. His paper Infinite conformal symmetry in two-dimensional quantum field theory, with Alexander Belavin, and Alexander Zamolodchikov, founded the two-dimensional Conformal Field Theory; it has classic status.[1] He also played an important role in elucidating the conceptual framework behind renormalization independent of Kenneth G. Wilson's Nobel Prize–winning work. He formulated pioneering ideas in gauge/string duality long before the breakthrough of AdS/CFT using D-branes. Other insightful conjectures that came years or even decades before active work by others include integrability of gauge and string theories and certain ideas about turbulence.

Very early in his career, in a 1965 student work, Polyakov suggested (with Alexander Migdal) a dynamical Higgs mechanism, slightly after but independently from the publications of Peter Higgs and others. The paper was delayed by the Editorial Ofiice of JETP, and was published only in 1966.

Andreev developed the theory of superconducting dynamic interfaces, studied electron retroreflection in between superconducting and normal states (“Andreev reflection”). In 1969 together with I. M. Lifshitz he developed the theory of quantum crystals and foretold the quantum diffusion effect. A.F.Andreev predicted the excess quantum crystallization phenomenon, melting-freezing waves, later discovered in solid helium, surface second sound, and quantum adsorption of trace elements on liquid helium surfaces, that leads to two-dimensional Fermi liquid formation. He also proved two-liquid fluctuations in liquid dynamics.
