The idea of an electronic dictionary was born in Jan in 1989, when he was still a student at MIPT. To development, he attracted a novice programmer Alexander Moskalev. Initially, young people did not plan to create a serious business, the plan was to sell 100 copies of the dictionary program for 100 rubles each and complete the project. For the first year, only 15 copies were sold. But the development was so successful that the team decided to continue working together and create a text recognition program. In 1993, the first version of the program appeared - Fine Reader. In 1995-1997 years. the program began to defeat competitors not only in Russia, but also in America and Europe. In connection with the successful launch of the program, it was decided to enter the foreign market and rebrand the company. In 1998 the company was renamed into ABBYY. Today ABBYY has offices in 10 countries, sells its software products in more than 150 countries. The most famous products are the ABBYY FineReader text recognition system and ABBYY Lingvo electronic dictionaries. In 2012, more than 20 million of all scanners and multifunctional devices in the world were equipped with the ABBYY FineReader system.
Creation of the world's first pocket communication computer for teenagers Cybiko (Russia, USA, Taiwan, 1998-2003). In 2000, a quarter of a million devices were sold in 4 months from the beginning of Cybiko sales in the USA.

In collaboration with Ya. B. Zel'dovich, he created a theory known as the Sunyaev-Zeldovich effect, according to which the cosmic background radiation is gradually dissipated by the action of electrons.
RA Syunyaev together with NI Shakura developed a model of accretion disks formed when a substance falls onto a black hole and causes strong X-ray radiation from binary systems in which one of the stars is a black hole or a neutron star.
RA Syunyaev participated in important studies of the early universe, including studies on the recombination of hydrogen in the universe and the occurrence of angular fluctuations of the relic radiation. He headed a team that conducted observations of instruments on the module "Quantum", part of the orbital station "Mir". With the help of this module, in 1987, hard X-ray radiation from a supernova was first recorded, associated with the decay of a radioactive nickel synthesized during the death of a star, converted into radioactive cobalt and then into iron. His team at the IKI was responsible for astrophysical observations from the satellites Granat and INTEGRAL, and is currently engaged in the preparation of the international astrophysical project Spectrum-Roentgen-Gamma. Education
Professional experience
A Soviet and American theoretical physicist who originally worked at the Kurchatov Institute of Theoretical Physics. Landau in Chernogolovka, and since 1989 - at Princeton University. Corresponding Member of RAS (1984).
Academic Interests
Known for a number of fundamental contributions to quantum field theory, including work on the Hooft-Polyakov monopole in the Yang-Mills theory. Regardless of Gerard 't Hooft, Polyakov realized the applicability of topological ideas in field theory through the discovery of monopole and instanton solutions in the Yang-Mills theory. He was one of the first to reveal the significance of scale invariance in quantum field theory, especially in connection with the theory of critical phenomena.
His reformulation of string theory in terms of the covariant path integral, the classification of two-dimensional conformal field theories in the article "Infinite conformal symmetry in two-dimensional quantum field theory" jointly with AA Belavin and AB Zamolodchikov, published in 1984, became the classics of the theoretical physics. In 2011 they received a joint award from Lars Onsager.
