Today, on June 9, Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) published the 2022 edition of its World University Rankings, one of the most influential rankings in the world. MIPT took the 290th position, and entered the top 10 Russian universities.
The position in the QS rating is one of the generally recognized criteria for the effectiveness of universities. It is formed on the basis of a comparative analysis of universities according to six criteria: academic reputation, employer reputation, citations per faculty, faculty student ratio, international students ratio, and international faculty ratio.
This year, within the framework of the "Academic reputation" indicator, which has the highest weight in the QS rating, MIPT entered the band of the top 500 world universities. The indicator is determined on the basis of a global survey in the scientific and educational environment: scientists identify the best universities in terms of the quality of scientific and teaching activities.
"This year, we see an increase in the academic reputation of Phystech that reflects the changes occurred at MIPT during the implementation of the Project 5-100. More than 80 laboratories have been created, and now they have reached a serious scientific level: they participate in a large number of grants, projects, and, most importantly, the number of R&D projects for the manufacturing sector is growing. If we compare the performance of MIPT during the Project 5-100, the income from R&D performed at Phystech increased from 1.3 to 4 billion rubles," said Vitaly Bagan, Vice Rector for Science at MIPT.
Apart from today’s rankings, MIPT is in the top 100 of five international subject rankings: in mathematics, computer science and natural sciences, as well as in the top 50 best universities in physics of THE and QS ratings worldwide.
