MIPT to open Business School

On April 6, 2021, MIPT Business School was presented in SberUniversity. Sber is one of the largest banks in Russia, and one of the leading financial institutions in the world. Sber will act as a strategic partner and an affiliated organization of the new school.

This year MIPT Business School will open a master’s program addressed to specialists with a high level of technical, IT, engineering or natural science education, but who want to advance their knowledge in the field of economics, management and technological entrepreneurship.

Students of the new school will gain and improve:

  • hard skills — economics, finance, marketing, risk management;

  • digital skills — technologies and platforms for HealthTech-, AutoTech- and ESG-projects;

  • soft skills — leadership, pitching, storytelling, Agile, emotional intelligence, team interaction;

  • business skills — trend watching, product management and Lean Startup.

The presentation of the new school was attended by senior students of MIPT, Business School Director Maria Sigova and MIPT Rector Nikolay Kudryavtsev. Sber CEO, Chairman of the Executive Board Herman Gref also addressed the audience online, emphasizing that MIPT graduates show impressive results not only in physics, mathematics and engineering, but also in business. “In the new project, we will provide the students with deep skills, but technically oriented ones. The demand for the graduates will be huge, they will become diamonds in the labor market. I am sure that the project is doomed to success, and we will strive to make our joint business-leading school in the world,” comments Herman Gref.

MIPT Rector Nikolay Kudryavtsev agrees that the idea of creating  a business school at MIPT has been long overdue, and today the seventh school within MIPT is completing the consolidation of the university to work with the real sector of the economy.

"Thanks to implementation of educational programs in close cooperation with Sber and its leadership in many technological areas, we will be able to invest in the master's program such a volume of knowledge and competencies, which would take much more time to master in other business schools," says Nikolay Kudryavtsev.

The admissions campaign to the new master’s program will be open from June 18 till August 23, 2021. The program is addressed not only to MIPT graduates, but to everyone wishing to enhance their managerial skills and engage in technological entrepreneurship in the future.

“We see a demand for business education  from our graduates, who would be interested in commercializing their scientific and applied developments, as well as from graduates of other universities who are impressed by the success of MIPT alumni in business. Most importantly, big companies (and Sber is a vivid example of this) are ready to invest in business education at MIPT so that they could invite professionals with systemic knowledge in the field of exact sciences and strong competencies in management, economics, project management to join their teams,” comments Maria Sigova.

There are no tuition fee waivers in 2021 for the new program, but 50 best applicants who will successfully pass the entrance exams will be provided with educational grants.
