Atmosphere & Ocean Fluid Dynamics

This program is focused on modern aspects of the atmosphere and ocean fluid dynamics of open ocean rather than of near-coastal and shoreline regions. А special focus of the course is Arctic region oceanography. That makes this program both fundamental and applied simultaneously.

  • Will gain relevant knowledge and practical skills in the field of atmosphere and ocean fluid dynamics;
  • Will learn how to build mathematical models and computer simulations of real processes of atmosphere and ocean, coastal and shore line regions. Arctic regions are studied separately in more detail;

TEACHING METHODS:
The program consists of introductory, theoretical and practical parts. The introductory part is based on mathematics courses and introductory courses in mechanics of continuous media that are important for further understanding of the material. The theoretical part includes lectures on fluid dynamics in atmosphere and ocean. Special attention is paid to process in Arctic regions. The practical part includes seminars and research work.
