Research is conducted in six different Phystech Schools. Please note that some schools can have more that one major, depending on the program. Prospective students are welcome to apply at the Phystech School of their choice, carefully considering which of the majors the program corresponds to.

Please pay attention that doctoral research is conducted under different titles and schools and you should choose appropriate one. To learn more, you are welcome to enter the site eng.mipt.ru.

Here's a sequence of steps you should follow to enter the university:


Step 1: Choose a full-degree program or a course

• Bachelor’s degree programs in Russian

• Bachelor’s degree programs in English

• Master’s degree programs in Russian

• Master’s degree programs in English

• Doctoral programs

• Preparatory course

• Short-term internships program

Step 2: Choose a program and a major

Here's the list of Phystech Schools:

• Biological and Medical Physics

• Applied Mathematics and Informatics (Computer Science)

Step 3: Check the entry requirements

Check that you meet the entry requirements for the degree programs, including:

• Language requirements. You may choose Russian/English-taught programs depending on your language level (passing the exam in Russian to enter a program taught in Russian or providing TOEFL/IELTS results for a master’s program taught in English)

• Academic entry requirements


Check that you meet the entry requirements for the preparatory course, including:

• School certificate or equal or higher

• No language requirements

Step 4: Collect the required documents

Bachelor of Science degree programs (in Russian)

1. Scanned copy of ID (passport)

2. Certificate of completion of the preparatory Russian language course

3. Certificate/Diploma confirming prior education (e.g., certificate of completion of secondary school/college level)

4. CV (including educational awards, results of academic competitions, and scientific publications)

Bachelor of Science degree programs (in English)

1. Filled-in application form

2. Scanned copy of ID (passport), its notarized and, if necessary, legalized translation

3. High school diploma, its notarized and, if necessary, legalized translation

4. Proof of English proficiency (B2 or equivalent)

5. Educational awards and results of academic or scientific competitions (if you have)

6. All translations must correspond with the visa/migration card details

Master of Science degree programs (in Russian)

1. Scanned copy of ID (passport)

2. Certificate of completion of the preparatory Russian language course

3. Diploma(s): bachelor’s degree or equivalent and official academic transcript(s) of records (scanned copy)

4. CV (including educational awards, results of academic competitions, and scientific publications)

Master of Science degree programs (in English)

1. Scanned copy of ID (passport)

2. Diploma(s): bachelor’s degree or equivalent and official academic transcript(s) of records (scanned copy)

3. CV (including educational awards, results of academic competitions, and scientific publications)

4. Cover letter

5. Two letters of recommendation

6. Scanned copy of a certificate of language proficiency (IELTS or TOEFL)

Doctoral programs

1. Scanned copy of ID (passport)

2. Diploma(s): master’s degree or equivalent and official academic transcript(s) of records (scanned copy)

3. CV (including educational awards, results of academic competitions, and scientific publications)

4. Cover letter

5. Two letters of recommendation

Preparatory courses

1. Scanned copy of ID (passport)

2. Scanned copies of educational documents (Certificate + Transcript of marks)

3. Motivation letter (including educational awards, results of academic competitions, and scientific publications)

4. CV


Please note that an interview is required for master’s and PhD programs!
