Physics of flight and aviation technology

Within the frameworks of the program, specialists of a wide range are trained, focused on experimental and flight research and  new aircraft testing,  development of   techniques and methods of aerophysical experiment, creating of new measurement systems and optical-physical research facilities.
The main areas of educational and scientific activity of the Chair are:

- the creation of miniature instruments based on the study of kinetic effects in a rarefied medium;
- development and implementation of software, hardware and algorithmic tools for the integrated automation of aerodynamic experiments;
- development and introduction of non-contact methods and means of measuring pressure, friction and temperature on the surface of an aircraft;
- automation of flight control.

The necessary stage in the creation of any aircraft is the study of its parameters in Wind tunnel. The measurement information obtained in the course of the aerodynamic experiment makes it possible to judge the processes and phenomena occurring when gas flows around objects. Starting with the third year students in real aerodynamic experiments get knowledge about methods and means of measurement, gathering and processing of measurement information.
