Information for international students about COVID-19

For most countries, the borders with Russia remain closed due to coronavirus (COVID-19). Only students from the following countries can enter Russia on a non-stop flight from their states of nationality:
● Armenia

● Azerbaijan
● Belarus (by air and by train)
● Cuba
● Egypt
● Ethiopia
● Finland
● Germany
● Greece
● India
● Japan
● Kazakhstan
● Kyrgyzstan
● Maldives
● Qatar
● Serbia
● Seychelles
● Singapore
● South Korea
● Sri Lanka
● Switzerland
● Syria
● Tajikistan
● United Arab Emirates
● Uzbekistan
● Venezuela
● Vietnam

Students-citizens of the above-mentioned states, registered by the International Department on the Public Services Portal of the Russian Federation, can also arrive in the Russian Federation through road, rail, pedestrian, river and mixed border checkpoints.

The distance learning will be available to international students before the borders open. Contact the International Department or your Phystech School to apply.

Directive No. 635-r of March 16, 2020 determines the procedure for the entry of international students into the Russian Federation from the countries listed above, established by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation.

BEFORE ARRIVAL
  1. Make sure your ID (passport) expires no earlier than 18 months prior to entry and your visa is valid. In case of questions contact the Migration Support.
  2. Notify the International Department of your arrival at least 10 days in advance by email (ostrovskaia.dm@mipt.rusidelnikova.nu@phystech.edu). It will officially inform the Public Services Portal of the Russian Federation about your arrival. Otherwise, you will not be included in the list of students permitted to enter the Russian Federation!
    The email must contain:
    ● date of entry into the Russian Federation;
    ● copy of your ID (passport) with which you intend to cross the border.
    Upon uploading your data to the Public Services Portal of the Russian Federation, the International Department will inform you that the entry is permitted.
  3. Take a COVID-19 (PCR) test in your country no earlier than 3 days before arriving in Russia. In case of a negative test result, you should obtain a certificate in your country in Russian or English. This certificate is strictly required when crossing the border.
  4. Be sure to tell the passport control officer that you enter Russia for educational purposes. In case you indicate other purposes in your migration card, you will not be able to register for housing.
UPON ARRIVAL
  1. Take a COVID-19 (PCR) test again within 72 hours of arrival.
    ● PCR test centers: Sheremetyevo (SVO), Domodedovo (DME), Vnukovo (VKO) airports; INVITRO, GEMOTEST, etc;
    ● Before you get your test result, you must quarantine out of campus or in the MIPT observator (quarantine facility, dormitory №10, entrance 1) with free three meals a day;
    ● International students are not allowed to study on campus without the second test. Only distance learning is available to students during the quarantine period.
  2. Send scanned copies of your migration card, passport and visa to the MIPT Migration Support by email as soon as possible.
  3. Send the result of the second test to the Chief Medical Officer of the MIPT Medical Center, Alexey Churshin (churshin.ad@mipt.ru).
  4. After the quarantine, you shall contact your Phystech School or the Preparatory Course for Foreign Citizens to inform them that you are allowed to study on campus.
  5. Come to the International Department (Auditorium buliding, office 308).
In the event of SARS symptoms (fever, sore throat, runny nose, cough) during the quarantine, international students must immediately report this to the MIPT Medical Center.

MIPT international students can get vaccinated aganist COVID-19 for free at the MIPT Medical Center. To do it they need to receive SNILS (Individual insurance account number) in multifunctional centers "Мои документы" with passport, passport translation and migration documents and contact the International Department.
