General Regulations

The Regulation has been developed in accordance with the Labour Code of the Russian Federation, the Federal Law from August 22, 1996 № 125-FZ “On Higher and Postgraduate Professional Education” (with subsequent amendments and additions), “Regulations on procedure for succession of research and educational staff members at higher education establishments of the Russian Federation”, approved by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation on November 26, 2002 № 4114, Uniform wage-qualification guide for managers, specialists and other employees, approved by order of the Ministry of Public Health of the Russian Federation on 11.01.2011, №1н, the Charter of MIPT and local MIPT regulations.

The Regulation applies to the positions of the research and educational teaching staff members, which include the faculty positions: Professor, Docent, Senior Lecturer, Lecturer, Assistant and research positions: Chief Research Scientist, Leading Research Scientist, Senior Research Scientist, Research Scientist and Junior Research Scientist (by category).

Replacement of research and educational staff positions at MIPT is based on an employment contract with a term of up to five years. The competitive selection of candidates precedes the signing of an employment agreement.


Organizing Officials

Officials responsible for the organization and conduct of the competitive selection are as follows:

  • for the positions of the MIPT professor — the rector;
  • for the positions of the docent, senior lecturer, lecturer and assistant — vice-rectors for educational affairs (in accordance with position responsibilities);
  • For research positions — vice-rector for research and innovation affairs.

Qualification Requirements by Position

Qualification requirements vary by position and are listed below. In exceptional cases, teachers and highly qualified specialists without appropriate academic degrees and academic titles, but with a long record of scientific-educational and practical experience in the specialty, with published scientific works or educational materials that have made a significant contribution to the development of MIPT educational process, may be considered for the positions of professors and docents. The decision in such cases is made by the MIPT rector.

Faculty Positions

  • Professors
    A professor must hold a higher professional education degree; Doctor of Sciences degree and a have minimum of five years of research and educational work experience, or the academic title of a professor.
  • Docents
    A docent must hold a higher professional education degree; Doctor of Sciences or Candidate of Sciences degree and have a minimum of three years of research and educational work experience, or the academic title of a docent (senior researcher).
  • Senior Lecturers
    A senior lecturer must hold a higher professional education degree and have a minimum of three years of research and educational work experience, in the event that the applicant holds a Candidate of Sciences degree, have a minimum of one year of research and educational work experience.
  • Lecturer
    A lecturer or an assistant must hold a higher professional education degree and have a minimum of one year of work experience at an educational institution (graduate school, residency, post-graduate school) or in the event the applicant holds a Candidate of Sciences degree, no work experience is required.

Research Positions

  • Chief Research Scientist
    Chief Research Scientist must hold a Doctor of Sciences degree, have major scientific works or diplomas for discoveries and inventors’ certificates, results realized in practice, as well as possess scientific authority in the relevant field of expertise.
  • Leading Research Scientist
    Leading Research Scientist must hold a Doctor of Sciences or a Candidate of Sciences degree, have scientific works or inventors’ certificates, as well as major projects and developments realized in practice.
  • Research Scientist
    Research Scientist must hold a higher professional education degree and have a minimum of five years’ work experience in the field of expertise, inventor’s certificates or scientific works; in the event the applicant holds a post-graduate degree — there is no requirement for work experience.
  • Junior Research Scientist
    Junior Research Scientist must hold a higher professional education degree and have a minimum of three years’ work experience in the field of expertise. In the event the applicant holds a post-graduate degree, has graduated from post-graduate school and completed the internship, there is no requirement for work experience. In the event there are recommendations of councils of higher education institutions (faculties) for a junior research scientist position, as an exception, graduates of higher learning institutions who have gained work experience during the term of their education, may be selected.  

 

Application Procedure

How to Apply

The MIPT human resources department prepares an order declaring the competitive selection process for the academic and teaching staff member positions and places the information in the press.

Within one month from the date of publication of the announcement of the competitive selection process, the applicant shall submit an application, addressed to the rector, to the human resources department regarding his or her participation in the competitive selection process.

Applicants are required to get acquainted with the Regulation regarding the procedure for the competitive selection for research and educational staff member positions at the federal state autonomous educational institution of higher professional education “Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (State University)” in advance, and also have the right to get acquainted with the conditions of employment and collective agreements, attend department meetings, and the meetings of the Scientific Council that is considering their candidacy.

 

Required Documents

The applicants who do not work at MIPT at the time the competitive selection process should enclose the following documents with their application:

  • copy of the educational diploma;

  • copy of the documents confirming the scientific degrees;

  • copy of the documents confirming scientific titles;

  • personal form for personnel management;

  • list of scientific and educational publications, inventions;

  • autobiography;

  • any other documents indicating the level of professional experience and qualifications that the applicant deems appropriate.

Applicants who are working at MIPT at the time the competitive selection process should enclose the following documents with their application:

  • list of scientific and educational publications, inventions for the period following their previous selection;

  • any other documents indicating the level of professional experience and qualifications that the applicant deems appropriate.
