Совместная научно-исследовательская работа с проф. А. Никитиным из Международного Физического Центра Доностии (Испания)

Over a few recent years, novel two-dimensional (2D) materials, (like e.g. graphene, atomically-thick semiconductors, and polar layers, etc.), have attracted significant attention in the scientific community, particularly in Optics and Condensed Matter Physics. 2D materials show a very strong response to electromagnetic fields and are thus very appealing for the manipulation of light on the nanoscale, down to the atomic scales. The studies in this direction have demonstrating spectacular physical phenomena, such as "hyperbolic" light or ultra-strong coupling between light and matter. Apart of that, 2D materials are considered as very promising candidates for their use in many state-of-the-art applications: (bio)sensing, photodetection or optical data processing, among others. Nanophotonics of 2D materials remains essentially unexplored, and some basic concepts of the light-matter interaction should be studied and understood.

We invite talented and highly-motivated candidates for developing master and Ph.D. projects. The students will be absorbed in exciting scientific research based on the study of optical phenomena appearing in atomically-thick layers. The planned projects are planned to be conducted in the 2D Center of MIPT, particularly in Nanooptics and Plasmonics Laboratory. A close contact with various highest-level experimental groups (in, MIPT, DIPC, U. Oviedo, Nanogune, MIT, U. Manchester, U. Monash, etc.), as well as regular visits to Donostia International Physics Center (located in Donostia-San Sebastian, Spanish Basque Country), will allow the candidate to touch the very frontiers of science.

The candidates should be fluent in English and have a strong background in physics and math.
