Dear Colleagues,

We would like to inform you that on 11 December the European Commission presented the first calls for projects under Horizon 2020, the European Union's €80 billion research and innovation programme. They include twelve areas that will be a focus for action in 2014/2015, including topics such as personalised healthcare, digital security and smart cities.

These calls provide ample opportunities for participation and for networking and research partnerships with scientists, universities, laboratories, and companies in Europe and internationally.

Please find attached the official press release together with an unofficial translation into Russian.

The new calls are published on the EU's digital portal for research funding (Participant Portal). While all these calls offer possibilities for participation, the following ones may be of particular interest to entities in Russia (some of them are already open, others will be published in the course of 2014-2015):

Proposals are in particular expected to help develop cooperation between European research infrastructures and the Russian Megascience facilities including the underpinning e-infrastructure.
  • INFRASUPP-8-2014: Network of National Contact Points (Coordination & Support Action) – The objective of this call is to facilitate trans-national co-operation between NCPs for research infrastructures with a view to identifying and sharing good practices and raising the general standard of support to programme applicants.
