A team from MIPT fits robotic components into human bodies. They have a task to make the process of mutual adaptation as simple and fast as they possibly can.
Physicists Observe Attosecond Real-Time Restructuring of Electron Cloud in Molecule
The recombination of electron shells in molecules, taking just a few dozen attoseconds (a billionth of a billionth of a second), can now be viewed “live,” thanks to a new method developed by MIPT researchers and their colleagues from Denmark, Japan and Switzerland. An article detailing the results of their study has been published in the journal Nature Communications.
Versatile Switch for Light-Controlled Cells
Scientists from Jülich, Grenoble, Frankfurt and Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT) uncovered the atomic structure of KR2, a light-driven transporter for sodium ions which had only recently been discovered. The structure of the light-driven ion pump KR2 may provide a blueprint for new optogenetic tools
MIPT Researchers Put Safety of Magic Anti-Cancer Bullet to Test
A group of MIPT researchers together with their colleagues from Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod, Australia and the Netherlands have carried out the first systematic study analyzing the safety of so-called upconversion nanoparticles that may be used to treat skin cancer and other skin diseases. This study is one of the most important steps on the path to new, safe and effective methods to diagnose and treat cancer.
Unexplained Warm Layer Discovered in Venus’ Atmosphere
A group of Russian, European and American scientists have found a warm layer in Venus’ atmosphere, the nature of whichis still unknown. The researchers made the discovery when compiling a temperature map of the upper atmosphere on the planet’s night side based on the data collected by the Venus Express probe.
Ingenious Research Projects Showcased at ‘Start in Science’ School Competition
Students from schools across Russia and the former Soviet republics displayed their projects, including studies of the mechanics of fluids, robots, jet engines and bioengineering research, at a recent science competition in Dolgoprudny.

A group of scientists from MIPT working with their colleagues from the Institute of Biology based in the Russian city of Syktyvkar have come up with a simple yet reliable method for evaluating genetic “damage” caused by aging –their “clock” should make it possible to conduct long-term research to assess the effectiveness of anti-aging drugs. Their findings were published in the Mutation Researchjournal.
